Activity
Herbicide

Quinmerac has a wide window for application but is most active if applied pre-emergence or early post-emergence. The product is absorbed by the roots and the foliage and has auxin-like activity. Pre-emergence applications result in stunting or cessation of weed growth. Post-emergence applications also result in discoloration of the leaves prior to plant death. Optimum post-emergence activity is obtained when applications are made in humid conditions or when adjuvants are used.

Quinmerac is safe for use in oilseed rape and sugar beet. It has residual activity lasting for several months, depending on the application rate and temperature of the soil.

Fate in soil:
The half-life of quinmerac in soil is temperature dependent, degradation being faster under warmer conditions. BASF says that due to the rapid degradation rate, there is a low probability of ground water contamination.
