Very slightly soluble (<10 g/ kg) in diesel oil, kerosene.; Stability:Relatively stable to acids and alkalis. At 20 °C, 50% hydrolysis occurs in 88 days at pH 5, and in 23 days at pH 9. Subject to thermal decomposition. Miscible in acetone, alcohol, isobutanol, hexylene glycol, xylene. Very slightly soluble in kerosene, diesel fuel.
Toxicology
Oral:Acute oral LD50 for rats 17-22 mg/kg, mice 15 mg/kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats 110-180 mg/kg to 148-181 mg/kg, depending on the carrier and the conditions of the test; for rabbits 224 mg/kg. Inhalation: LC50 (4 h) for rats c. 0.09 mg/l air. Phytotoxicity:Non-phytotoxic if used as directed. Phytotoxic to some varieties of apple and pear under certa
Environmental Profile
Ecotoxicology:
Bees:Very toxic to honeybees but, because surface residues rapidly decline, little effect seen in practice.Birds:Toxic to birds. Acute oral LD50 1.2-12.5 mg/kg. Not neurotoxic to hens.Fish: LC50 (24 h) for mosquito fish 200, harlequin fish >1000 mg/l.
Environmental fate:
Animals:In rats and dogs, following oral administration, complete metabolism and elimination occur within a few days.Soil:The dimethylamino group is converted to an N-oxide and subsequently to -CH2OH and - CHO groups, followed by demethylation and hydrolysis. See K. I. Beynon et al., Residue Rev., 1973.
WATER SOLUBILITY: Miscible.
