PGPR (Biofertilizers & Biofungicides) are Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria defined as root-colonizing bacteria that exert beneficial traits on plant growth and development.

The Asian PGPR Society for Sustainable Agriculture is a scientific society that was formed in 2009 as a nonprofit organization to enable scientists, researchers, academicians, government groups, students, farmers, and industry personnel etc from various agricultural disciplines to meet and discuss their common interests in teaching, research and commercialization of PGPR.

 

Asian PGPR Society has more than 1500 members in Asia and other countries and the Society is entirely run by volunteers. Its membership has expertise in all facets of PGPR includes a wide variety of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, research associates, technical assistants, extension plant pathologists, research scientists, and professors from federal and provincial governments, universities, and companies involved with plant health.

 

The objectives of Asian PGPR are to encourage research, education, and the dissemination of knowledge on the importance of PGPR. Asian PGPR Society-sponsored international and regional association meetings provide an opportunity for PGPR researchers to meet and discuss their common interests.
