Hatake's microbial collection is predominantly isolated from marine environments, consisting of more than 4,000 different strains which include members of the genus Bacillus, lactic acid bacteria, viruses and fungi. Only the most effective organisms with unique and specific abilities are selected and commercialized. The company also has a stable of animal and insect cell lines which are used for cell toxicity tests, antibody production, and other examinations. Numerous analytical instruments are used such as the real-time PCR system to quantify the DNA of the target microorganism. A biological safety cabinet is engineered in the laboratory, and Hatake stores viruses, bacteria, and fungi under a Biosafety level 2-research facility. The cleanroom area allows the production of high efficacy, stable and long shelf life products in a sterile environment, which prevents contamination by dust and other microorganisms. Hatake's Bioindustry Divisions is based in Fukuoka BioIncubation Center (Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan), and is equipped with cutting-edge research facilities in open laboratories which includes DNA sequencers, gas chromatography-mass spectrometers (GC/MS), and other analytical equipments. High efficacy, stable and long shelf life end products are produced via the proprietary fermentation and purification techniques. This elevates the company above and beyond others in this field.
