The companies AXÉRÉAL and FLORIMOND DESPREZ have been present on the Hungarian seed market since 2003, when they established Mitemag Ltd. Due to the success of Mitemag Ltd. the two owners decided to extend their activities regionally; therefore they established ISTERRA Central Europe Ltd. in order to reach the entire Central European region with their breeding, seed production and sales activities. ISTERRA Ltd. intends to be an active participant in the Hungarian, Slovakian, Romanian, Bulgarian and the former Yugoslavian (Bosnia-Hecegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Montenegro, and Kosovo) seed market. ISTERRA Ltd. connected with the breeding work of FLORIMOND DESPREZ with the establishment of a separate plant breeding center in Hungary to ensure the development, introduction and dissemination of its successful varieties in Hungary and the Central European region. In the future ISTERRA Ltd. plans to broaden the line of their products: besides cereal seeds with seeds of other plant species, for example winter rape hybrids. We would like to continue our routinely applied practice of carrying out experiments with varieties from other breeding companies based on a positive outcome, we would like to offer these to the market too. The aim of the business policy of the company is to create a variety supply that meets the demands of Hungarian and European markets as well as the seed marketing. In order to achieve this goal ISTERRA Ltd. has established an experimental network in Hungary operated together with NEBIH for the selection of the varieties showing the best adaptability and superior quality. The seeds produced in the fields belonging to the closed system of ISTERRA Ltd. are processed and certified by the seed plants operated by key partners of the company with quality assurance. The trade policy of ISTERRA Ltd. is based on: the sale of seeds within the parent company: in cooperation with the subsidiary companies to repurchase the end product propagated from the sold seed (malting barley, winter wheat),by AXEREAL HUNGARY Ltd. . the free market sale via agricultural integrators and seed traders. The independent family company FLORIMOND DESPREZ, which is one of the leading French breeding companies, has been working in plant breeding for nearly two hundred years. Its main focuses are the breeding and sale of seeds of sugar beet, cereals, winter rape and legumes. It has an important role in the seed market of Europe and the World.
