PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia (Persero) - PT PPI is the only trade BUMN in Indonesia. PT PPI is engaged in general trade covering export, import and distribution which is a merger of three state-owned enterprises, namely PT Tjipta Niaga (Persero), PT Dharma Niaga (Persero) and PT Pantja Niaga (Persero) which was effective as of March 31, 2003 based on the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 22 of 2003. The three ex-BUMN BUMNs were a group of The Big Five Company owned by the Dutch Government in Indonesia during the Dutch colonial era which was nationalized to become a BUMN in the 1950s. The implementation of the three ex-BUMN Niaga mergers is aimed at increasing management efficiency, maximizing profits, business integration and increasing asset ownership.
