Molecular weight: 179.2 g/mol; Physical form: Colorless crystals. Density: 0.54; Composition: Tech. grade is 97% pure. Melting point: 99℃ (>98%); Partition coefficient (n-octanol and water): logP = 2.3 (25℃); Solubility: In water 0.47 g/l (20℃). Soluble in most organic solvents; e.g. in acetone 5.74, benzene 2.04, ethanol 3.52, ethyl acetate 2.77 (all in g/l, 20℃); also soluble in cyclohexanone and 3,5,5-trimethylcyclohex-2-enone.; Stability: Rapidly hydrolysed in alkaline media. Relatively stable to neutral and weakly acidic aqueous solutions. Stable to light and to temperatures up to 90℃.
