ActivityBenfuresate is most active following pre-plant incorporation to moist soil. It can, however, be applied post-emergence to paddy rice as a granular formulation. It is taken up by the roots of broadleaf plants and via the emerging shoot in grasses and sedges. The activity of benfuresate persists for up to 10 weeks after treatment.
In field trials, benfuresate gave equal or better control than established products at similar use rates. In cotton, the compound gave improved yields relative to conventional herbicide treatments; AgrEvo recommends that cotton seed is not drilled within 1-2 weeks of application. Benfuresate has been shown to be safe to wheat, sugar cane, legumes, brassicas and tomatoes grown in rotation with cotton; and to wheat and cabbages following rice.Herbicide -
