Activity

Herbicide
Etobenzanid is only active when applied under flooded conditions, ideally 3-5 cm in depth. It is necessary to maintain flooded conditions for two weeks after treatment. In direct seeded rice the product can be applied from the 0.5 leaf stage of rice to the two-leaf stage of Echinochloa crus-galli and in transplanted rice from transplanting to the two-leaf stage of E crus-galli. Etobenzanid has no residual activity. Muddy conditions in the paddy reduce the activity of the product.

Hodogaya reports that etobenzanid does not cause phytotoxicity in rice.

Molecular weight: 340.21. Odorless white crystal. Melting point: 92.7°-93.0°C. Vapor pressure 2.1 x 10-5 Pa(40°C). Slight solubility in acetone, acetonitrile, methanol, ethanol, xylene, toluene and ethyl acetate.

Toxicology

Oral: LD₅₀ for mice >5000 mg/ kg. Percutaneous:Slightly irritating to eyes and skin. Inhalation: LC₅₀ for rats 1503 mg/m³.
