Toxicology
Oral:Acute oral LD50 for rats 4040 mg/kg, mice 1500-2500 mg/kg, guinea pigs 1450 mg/kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD50 for mice >5000 mg/kg, rabbits >2000 mg/kg. Inhalation: LC50 (1 h) for rats >21.6 mg/l (for 75% WP). Phytotoxicity:Injury is possible on glasshouse ornamentals and young lettuce plants.

Bees: LD50 (contact) 0.18 mg/bee.Birds:Acute oral LD50 for bobwhite quail 900, mallard ducks >2000 mg/kg. Dietary LC50 (5 d) for mallard ducks 5960, bobwhite quail 1435 mg/kg diet.Daphnia: LC50 (48 h) 2.07 mg/l.Fish: LC50 (96 h) for rainbow trout 1.6, bluegill sunfish 37, goldfish 32 mg/l.Worms: LC50 (14 d) for Eisenia foetida 885 mg/kg. 
Environmental fate: 
Animals:In rats, following oral administration, dicloran is rapidly metabolised, and excreted in the urine as the sulfate conjugate of 4-amino-3,5-dichlorophenol.Soil:Microbial degradation involves reduction to 4-amino-2,6-dichloroaniline. Soil DT50 39-78 d (sandy loam, pH 6.3-7.1, o.m. 0.7-3.4%); Koc 760 (sand, pHPlant:In plants, the principal metabolites are 4-amino-3,5-dichlorophenol, 4-amino-2,6-dichloroacetanilide and 4-amino-2,6-dichloroaniline.
