Oral:Acute oral LD₅₀ for rats 3000 mg/kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD₅₀ for rats >2150 mg/kg. Non-irritant to skin; slight irritant to eyes (rabbits). Inhalation:50 (4 h) for rats >5400 mg/m³. ADI:0.12 mg/ kg.

Bees: LC₅₀ (48 h) (contact and ingestion) >100 μg/bee.Birds:Dietary LC₅₀ (8 d) for Japanese quail >1000 ppm.Daphnia: LC₅₀ 0.92 mg/l.Fish: LC₅₀ (96 h) for rainbow trout 5 mg/l, crucian carp 8 mg/l.
Environmental fate:
Animals:Metabolism of dimethametryn was found to proceed as for S-alkyl-s-triazines, mainly via N-dealkylation, S-oxidation and conjugation with reduced glutathione, side-chain hydroxylation, and via conjugation leading to S-WATER SOLUBILITY: 50 mg/l at 20°C.
