Stable up to 600 °C. Hydrolyzed by alkali to parent phenol dinoseb. Soluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic solvents, ethanol, fatty oils. Highly soluble in lower aliphatic ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons.

Toxicology

Oral:Acute oral LD₅₀ for mice 2540 mg/kg, rats 140 mg/kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD₅₀ for rats >5000 mg/kg, rabbits >3200 mg/kg. Phytotoxicity:May cause phytotoxicity to some varieties of tomatoes and roses in the glasshouse.
