Molecular weight:216.6; Physical form:Orange-red to bright red powder (yellow when finely divided). Melting point:Decomposes at c. 500 °C; Solubility:In water 53 mg/l (25 °C). Insoluble in organic solvents. Soluble in dilute acids, forming the corresponding mercury salts.; Stability:Decomposes on exposure to light. Darkens at c. 400 °C and decomposes into mercury and oxygen at c. 500 °C.;

(Rat): Oral LD50 18 mg/kg.Extremely poisonous orally to all animals.
