Activity

Diofenolan is active against scales and Lepidoptera by ingestion. It inhibits the development of first and second instar larvae in scales and prevents the maturation of eggs and larvae in Lepidoptera. The product is most effective against newly hatched scales. Adult scales treated with diofenolan produce non-viable eggs. Optimum timing of applications for the control of Lepidoptera is at oviposition. Diofenolan can be applied in spring and summer. Residual activity lasting four weeks has been observed following dormant sprays in spring. Higher application rates are required in summer.

Fate in soil:
Diofenolan binds tightly to soil particles. Its half-life in soil is approximately three days. The potential for leaching to groundwater is low.
