IRRI, or the International Rice Research Institute, is a nonprofit independent research and training organization. IRRI is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. IRRI’s goals align with the objectives of the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP) that coordinates rice research among more than 900 international partners. IRRI develops new rice varieties and rice crop management techniques that help rice farmers improve the yield and quality of their rice in an environmentally sustainable way. IRRI has released more than a thousand improved rice varieties in 78 countries since its establishment in 1960.
