Algentech develops and commercializes plant gene editing technologies for industrial and research applications. Its proprietary technologies form unique tools for precise engineering of nuclear and organelle (chloroplast and mitochondria) genomes with multi-sectorial applications.
The company was incorporated in Evry, France in March 2009 and is a member of the leading French biocluster Génopole. Its research and development laboratories are located at INRA (Versailles, France), a world renowned center for applied agricultural research.
Current In house developed products and R&D include the production of enzymes, surfactants and therapeutic compounds in chloroplasts, the development of efficient booster tools for increased efficiency of Crispr/Cas9-based genome editing methods and the induction of cytoplasmic male sterility in selected crops via mitochondria transformation.
