Founded by professionals with more than seven decades of combined seed and agribusiness industry experience. Tierra is headquartered in Hyderabad, the seed capital of India, with additional research and breeding facilities in Pune and Vijayawada.

Tierra is focussed on development of traits and superior products in four focus crops - Cotton, Rice, Tomato and Corn. Tierra uses several advanced technology tools to develop its products. We use marker assisted selection, mutation breeding, TILLING, among other advanced genomics tools to develop new traits and better products. Tierra R&D unit has been recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) under Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

We are a B2B license based company. We develop traits, stack them into seeds, license seeds and traits to independent seed companies who in turn market them to the farmers. We empower small seed companies in Asia and Africa to provide new products and compete in the market.

Our focus is on creating Intellectual Property (IP) and Plant Variety Protected (PVP) products. Our business model follows strict compliance with all regulatory guidelines including Freedom To Operate (FTO) guidelines.

We collaborate with research institutes and seed companies for technology development partnerships. We have active collaboration on research and technology partnerships with over 15 national and international institutes.

Tierra has adequate infrastructure that includes 40 acres of research farms in Hyderabad and Pune, a well-equipped biotech laboratory in Hyderabad and 100 acres product evaluation facility across key agro climatic locations. Tierra has developed several disruptive traits and products that are ready for commercial launch in 2016.

Tierra draws on the profound industrial knowledge and expertise of its founders which is further underpinned by a best-in-class professional team of experienced plant breeders, biotechnologists, IP protection team and entomologists. Tierra is founded by a 3 member team who have global seed industry experience including leadership positions at leading MNCs. Core team is supported by a strong 30+ member team.
