Activity
Herbicide.Pinoxaden is effective on wild oat, green and yellow foxtail, barnyard grass, canary grass, Italian ryegrass and Persian darnel but does not control brome species, Poa spp or perennial grasses. The application window in wheat and barley will be from 2-leaf up to pre-boot and grass weeds from 1-leaf to 6-leaf + 3 tillers.

Pinoxaden is a systemic herbicide. Following uptake mainly through leaves (root absorption is very limited), it is rapidly translocated to growing points. Susceptible weeds stop growing within 48 hours. Symptoms of chlorosis are apparent after 7 to 21 days, and complete control is achieved in three to five weeks.

Axial (which includes cloquintocet-mexyl safener) can be used safely on all varieties of wheat and barley. The product is rainfast in 30 minutes.

Axial is used in conjunction with an adjuvant. Syngenta has developed A12127S which is used at 0.7 L/ha (9.6 oz/acre) in recommended spray water volumes of 50 – 100 L/ha (5 – 10 gall/acre). Axial can be applied aerially in water volumes of 30 – 50 L/ha (3 – 5 gall/acre).

Tank-mix partners to add broadleaved weed control include bromoxynil, dicamba, 2,4-D, MCPA, clopyralid, fluroxypyr, florasulam and sulfonylureas. Pinoxaden has a very short half-life in soil with no rotational restrictions.
