Fungicide
Bromuconazole is a foliar fungicide for the control of ascomycete, basidiomycete and deuteromycete fungi including Alternaria spp, Fusarium spp and Septoria spp. Like all triazole fungicides it has systemic activity. Bromuconazole is rapidly absorbed by plants and has activity against stem and foliar diseases, as well as ear diseases in cereals. It is primarily for use as a preventative fungicide but has some curative activity as well. Its use as part of a spray programme in cereals is recommended.

In field trials, bromuconazole gave comparable levels of disease control at similar or lower application rates than standard fungicides.

Under simulated sunlight, degradation is pH-dependent: bromuconazole is degraded especially in acidic conditions, DT50 18 d.;
Toxicology
Oral:Acute oral LD50 for rats 365, mice 1151 mg/kg. Percutaneous:Acute percutaneous LD50 for rats >2000 mg/kg. Non-irritating to eyes and skin of rabbits. Non-sensitising to skin of guinea pigs. Inhalation: LC50 (4 h) for rats >5 mg/l air.
Environmental Profile
Ecotoxicology:
Algae: EC50 (96 h) for Selenastrum capricornutum 2.1 mg/l.Bees:Non-toxic by direct contact or ingestion at 500 mg/bee and 100 mg/bee, respectively.Birds:Acute oral LD50 for bobwhite quail and mallard ducks >2150 mg/kg b.w. LC50 (8 d) for bobwhite quail and mallard ducks >5000 ppm.Daphnia: LC50 (48 h) >5 mg/l.Fish: LC50 (96 h) for bluegill sunfish 3.1, rainbow trout 1.7 mg/l.Worms:Harmless.Other beneficial spp.:Formulations are harmless to non-target arthropods such as parasitic wasp (Aphidius), predatory mite (Typhlodromus Pyri), and foliage-dwelling predators.

 Environmental fate:
 Animals:Metabolism in animals (rat, cow, hen) is extensive. Nearly 60 different metabolites were detected in the rat, 57 of which had structures assigned. No evidence was found to suggest that the compound and/or its metabolites accumulate in the organs and tissuSoil:Under lab. and field conditions, bromuconazole exhibits very low mobility in soil. Field dissipation studies have shown that degradation in soil was much more rapid than predicted by lab. experiments.Plant:Metabolism in cereals is characterised by the formation of bound residues of very polar metabolites and conjugates. The parent compound in the extractable residue has been identified as the major component. In the grain, no individual metabolite represent
