Activity

Insecticide.
Chlorfluazuron is active against juvenile forms of Lepidoptera. It has some ovicidal activity, but this is much less important than the larvicidal activity. The product is primarily active following ingestion, but has some contact activity at higher use rates. Like other IGRs, it is slower to act than neurotoxic insecticides. Chlorfluazuron is non-systemic, it has residual activity lasting up to 14 days and is rainfast.
In field trials some transient phytotoxicity was observed on newly developed leaves. ISK recommends that chlorfluazuron is used in sequence with other insecticides, with no more than two applications per season to avoid the build up of resistance.
